    UAE President meets Elon Musk in Abu Dhabi

    ABU DHABI, December 22, 2025: President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with American entrepreneur Elon Musk in Abu Dhabi on Sunday to discuss developments in advanced technology and artificial intelligence, underscoring the growing importance of innovation and global cooperation in the digital era. The meeting focused on technological progress and the expanding role of artificial intelligence in improving quality of life and advancing human development. Discussions addressed the potential of AI and related technologies to enhance productivity, strengthen infrastructure, and contribute to sustainable growth across economies worldwide.

The talks also reflected the UAE’s ongoing efforts to establish itself as a global center for artificial intelligence research and innovation. The country has prioritized digital transformation as part of its long-term national strategy, focusing on AI adoption across government services, industry, and education.

    The meeting highlighted the UAE’s continued commitment to building partnerships that promote scientific and technological excellence on an international scale. The engagement comes as the UAE expands its investments in emerging technologies through national initiatives such as the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), chaired by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan. These initiatives aim to position the UAE as a regional hub for innovation, attracting leading experts and enterprises involved in AI, robotics, and advanced computing.

    Meeting highlights UAE’s role as a regional hub for AI progress

    Elon Musk, who leads multiple global technology enterprises, including Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI, has been active in promoting advancements in artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and space exploration.     The meeting was attended by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence; Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC); Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs; and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, along with a number of ministers and senior officials.

    The discussions took place amid the UAE’s growing engagement with international technology companies and research institutions. The country has positioned itself as a key participant in global efforts to shape the governance and application of artificial intelligence, ensuring that technological growth aligns with ethical standards and public benefit. The UAE’s approach to innovation has included large-scale projects integrating AI into national planning, environmental management, and industrial operations.
