On September 17, local time, the “Dialogue Between Solar Civilizations—Chengdu Panda Week Series” kicked off at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo, Egypt. The event featured a thematic exhibition on the ancient Shu civilization and a culture and tourism promotion conference for Chengdu, drawing tourists from multiple countries as well as local residents to visit and take photos. The year 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt. With civilization serving as a bond, this event has added a vivid Chengdu footnote to the millennia-old friendly exchanges between the two nations.

The 2026 Yangtze River Civilization Forum opened on September 15 in Chongqing, gathering scholars, officials and diplomatic representatives from nearly 20 countries — including Egypt, Brazil, India, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Australia and Mexico — to explore how the world’s great river civilizations can learn from one another. The forum is producing tangible cooperation, with initiatives like the joint World Heritage inscription of Chongqing’s Baiheliang hydrological inscriptions and Egypt’s Nilometer on Rhoda Island, as well as the “When the Yangtze Meets the Amazon” initiative.

“Celadon Breeze from the Sea: A Journey Through Zhejiang Celadon” traces centuries of craftsmanship and cultural exchange along the Maritime Silk Road. The exhibition features four sections — “Kiln Fires That Endure,” “Celadon Across the World,” “Sailing Across the Seas” and “Envoys of Exchange” — with archaeological objects forming the basis of a comprehensive narrative. “Kiln Fires That Endure” traces the evolution of Zhejiang celadon techniques and aesthetics. “Celadon Across the World” and “Sailing Across the Seas” draw on kiln sites, ports, shipwrecks and overseas archaeological finds to trace the history of Zhejiang celadon exports to Africa. “Envoys of Exchange” draws on the travels of Ibn Battuta to illuminate the shared history of China and Morocco.

India and Uzbekistan expand cooperation under a new Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Trade and economic cooperation played a central role during the negotiations. According to the Uzbek government, bilateral trade reached $1.3 billion in 2025, reflecting a 33% increase. Both nations have committed to increasing annual trade to $5 billion by 2030. The number of joint ventures has grown sevenfold in recent years. Currently, India and Uzbekistan are served by 14 direct flights each week, and four Indian universities operate within Uzbekistan. The leaders emphasized the need for expanded industrial and commercial links. An agreement was reached to create a mechanism at the foreign minister level to oversee the implementation of bilateral accords. Plans are also underway for a joint working group to address non-tariff barriers and investment obstacles. After completing a feasibility study for an India-Uzbekistan Preferential Trade Agreement, officials will review next steps. Priority sectors identified include energy, electrical engineering, metallurgy, critical minerals, and agriculture. Discussions also covered healthcare, pharmaceuticals, automotive manufacturing, electronics, mechanical engineering, and jewelry industries.
